WAIKAITU LTD - Production Operator 2024 – Flex hours

Reports to: Waikaitu Manufacturing Manager

Starts: Immediately / negotiable

Term length: This is generally a part time casual job – but can be full time for the right, experienced candidate willing to work a trial period with us.

Location: Based at our rural Tasman facility, near Motueka.

About The Opportunity at Waikaitu:

Applicants should have work experience, a current license driving a forklift, and be a safe, reliable person of excellent character who can stand on their feet working a dayshift – this is not an office job. Maybe you grew up on a farm or worked in a family business doing all manner of physical jobs. You might not have any industry experience beyond that, and that’s ok because we can teach you – but our ideal candidate also has production or manufacturing experience and understands production line basic quality assurance testing. Above all else we are looking for a motivated person who is proactive, punctual, and can grow with us as we pioneer the commercialisation of a pest seaweed into multiple organic agricultural products.

The position reports to and follows the directions of the Manufacturing Manager, and if you successfully complete a trial period you could be invited to apply for any permanent work at Waikaitu especially if you are bringing previous manufacturing experience.  Exact duties may vary but include handing/driving heavy machinery such as forklifts.

Critical contributions of this job include:

You need manual dexterity to manipulate controls and use a variety of hand tools.

You must be able to stand or walk for the majority of the workday (or shift) and push/pull/lift large and heavy containers within WorkSafe limits.

You must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and already be based in New Zealand to be considered for this role.

You must provide your own transportation every day and work all shifts during harvest.
